Abstract

The article deals with the imposition of an economic model by the military dictatorship still existing today as the foundation of capitalist accumulation in Brazil: the maintenance of the country as a structure founded on the permanent primitive accumulation of capital. To this end, we describe the constitutional organisation of the economy, the planning and foreign capital regime, the role of state-owned enterprises and the development policy followed during the dictatorial period. We conclude by discussing the continuity of the dictatorial economic model under the constitutional regime of 1988.
