Abstract

The paper reflects on the process of change / maintenance of port operations in Atlantic ports. We analysed a detailed list of port studies, always taking into account the conditions of each society and port city, while also considering the structural analysis of capitalism on the seas in the maritime transport revolution. Based on studies, memories and projects of contemporary engineers, we can better understand the complex coexistence between the reproduction of old infrastructures and port improvements, which, although they did not transform the productive logic of the ports, changed the landscape of the Atlantic ports in the Eighties.
