Abstract

The article presents a work plan on the legal journals published in Spain, Portugal and the in American republics that were once their colonies (ca.1830-1950). Our aim is, firstly, to recall the origins of legal historiography on journals. We focus, secondly, on some conceptual issues and, thirdly, on several practical caveats, gathered from my own experience, that should be taken into consideration when studying these materials. We do then a quick review of the repertories and inventories consulted in this embryonic phase of the work. We finally describe briefly how ambitious the project is. Since it can only be carried out by a group of researchers, we invite interested readers to join our efforts.
