The purpose of the article is to reflect upon the relationship between temporality and affects in order to consider political philosophy as a philosophy of events. From the contrast of different framings of temporality, presented in the figures of Chronos and Kairós, we show in the first part of the article traces of a temporal realization not concluded by the finalistic chain of history, which can only be captured in the order of the events. In the second part, we highlight the existing connections between the figures of time and the affects, which permeate and constitute the political events themselves. Through the reading of affects, we present melancholy as an affect that marks the political reflection of the present, and which allows us to observe that politics, thought from an event perspective, responds to the primordial task of affecting and being affected by the events.
