About the Journal

The Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro is a scientific publication, maintained by the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro, that has been regularly issued since 1839. Its primary focus is the publication of research on the Brazilian reality, especially from a historiographical perspective, while also encompassing the Social Sciences in general. Thus, its scope includes Brazilian history as a whole, as well as topics in geography, demography, anthropology, sociology, political science, law, economics, culture, and other interdisciplinary dimensions related to these fields.

The journal publishes original works and translations in its sections: articles, thematic dossiers, analyses of historical documents, and communications. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by experts in the field to ensure the quality and relevance of the published contributions.

The journal therefore aims to contribute to the preservation of national memory and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
